Presidential Ponderings

What do you think that our club members feel should be the most important focus of our club? That and other survey results were discussed at our February meeting. Well, here is  the ranking from the members who responded to the survey…

The question was “what do you think our club’s main focus should be?”

1. Responsible dog ownership

2. Dog training

3. Promoting dogs in general

4. Socializing with fellow dog owners

5. Annual Dog Show

6. Responsible breeding

7. Promoting purebred dogs

8. Petting parties

9. Providng a resourse for people with problem dogs

10. General health and behavior issues

Other survey results included the fact that most of our members are currently showing their dogs, have shown their dogs, or intend to show their dogs in the future.  As for club member’s favorite things to do with their dogs, most said they just enjoy spending time with their dogs. Other popular doggie pass times were going for walks, visiting nursing homes and going to dog shows.

Thanks again to everyone who returned the survey.

Back by popular demand at the next meeting will be the brag jar. For those of you that don’t know or remember, the brag jar is our way of bragging about our accomplishments with our dogs (or anything else for that matter!) But to earn the right to “brag” you have to put a dollar in the jar. We haven’t been “bragging” on a regular basis, and we have done it at the end of meetings. But since we all like to hear each other’s milestones, I am going to start the meetings off with the brag jar. So think of your brag and bring your bucks!

We will also have an update on the dog park at this meeting, so come and spend your St Patrick’s day with us! See you there!
